Protect Your Granite And Keep It Looking As Beautiful As New

Granite and many other natural stone products are expensive and you would have made a substantial investment. There is no doubt that it looks absolutely fantastic and if possible many more people would like to use natural stone.

The main problem comes with care and like any other natural product it requires, not much, but a little love and care. Do this and your natural products will last with their beauty for many many years to come.

Taking Good Care Of Your Granite Countertops

Taking good care of granite countertops is easy, you can have it done by professionals or you can do it yourself. The main point to remember is to make use of a high quality product…

This will ensure that your granite always looks as good as new and is properly protected against possible hazards that might cause ugly marks and staining.

Your granite countertop is not only installed because it looks good, it is a working surface whether it is in the kitchen, the bar or even a countertop for the front desk of your office. As such, things placed on it, coffee, tea and other liquids will be spilled, some hot surfaced will end up on it and so the list goes on.

As specialists in the natural stone industry with over 15 years experience we have developed our own product in association with a company in Canada. To us the products on the market did not exactly perform the way in which we had expected so we went out to get the perfect solution.

This was the birth of Inpregnator

For the past four years we have been testing and using our own product to make sure that you will get only the best results, and it has passed all tests and our wildest expectations with flying colours.

Inpregnator is unique to Status Stones and only supplied by us.

Least hassles… best results.

Applying granite sealant to your granite surfaces is easy.

It requires a little time, Saturday afternoon, some work and of course some waiting.

  • First make sure the surface is clean and free of any residue.

  • You apply the sealant to your surfaces with a soft cloth or if you prefer a brush or any other suitable applicator that would normally be used for applying sealing products.

  • Apply the first layer of the sealant and then check if you might have missed any spots and apply the sealant there.

  • Wait for the sealant to dry (around 12 hours) and then apply a second layer of sealant and allow it to dry.

That’s it…

We do know that time is an issue for many people and we would rather spend a Saturday afternoon doing something a little more exciting and pleasurable…

If you are in the Gauteng region we will seal your granite surfaces for you by our trained staff and give you the time off on a Saturday that you deserve for a small fee. If you are from the Western Cape region…

we do profusely apologise but we are not Stormers supporters… but you can still order from us and we promise we will not talk rugby… unless of course we won. (Just can’t help it)

Some Additional Information About Granite And Other Natural Stone Surfaces And Inpregnator

All natural stone products are porous, which means it has pores (holes) through which liquids and gasses can move. In fact, porous materials act like a sponge (a very hard one) and suck in liquid over time, along with dissolved salts and other minerals.

More porous stone, such as sandstone will absorb liquids relatively quickly, while denser volcanic stones such as granite are significantly less porous and may take an hour or to absorb oils and water based liquids.

This would generally occur between one and two coats of sealant. Wipe off any excess sealant from the surface right away.

Allow to dry for 12 hours.Wash any excess off with soap and water.

Coverage and Lifespan

Dependant on the type of surface and the porosity, the impregnator will generally reach between 15- and 30m2 per litre of product. Granite 30m2 / Marble 20m2 / Sandstone 15m2

Dependant on the day to day maintenance of the surface, the sealant will have a lifespan of anything between 3 and 10 years. It is advisable to do a water test to check porosity levels annually to determine the effectiveness of the impregnator. Should porosity be visible, clean the surface properly and re apply a coat of impregnator as per point 4.

What Clients Say

Hello Christian,

My husband and I would like to thank you for the wonderful job that you have done with the granite installation in our kitchen and lounge.  We received 3 other quotes from other granite installers but received not only the best price from you but excellent advice and service.

It is so nice to be reminded that there are still companies that focus on good and responsive service.

I will definitely be recommending you and Status Stones to my friends and colleagues.

Kind regards,
Amanda

Caesarstone

The reason for using quartz stone on surfaces is due to the strength and flexibility, high heat, stain and scratch resistant.
We use Caesarstone for all our quartz installations. CaesarStone's quartz surfaces work extremly well for virtually any interior surface

Granite

Because granite is hard and resistant to weathering, it is a durable ornamental rock that can be used for kitchen tops, bar tops, reception tops, vanity tops, tombstone, tiling of floors, cladding of building, building blocks for monuments and kerbing for pavements.

Marble

Because of the wide variety of light colours, marble is ideally used for vanity tops in bathrooms.
Marble can also be used for tiling of floors, tombstones and reception tops. Marble can also be used for kitchen tops but only for a decorative purpose due to the soft nature of the stone.
